The legend of the holy grail, like much dubious history of its vintage, encompasses a veritable labyrinth of divergent, often directly contradictory stories. It is not one legend but many, from King Arthur to the Knights Templar to the mysterious village of Rennes-le-Chateau and the Merovingian bloodline. This being the case, Griffin's slight but eminently readable essay should be considered an introduction to the subject rather than a definitive analysis of it. He posits several different theories on the identity of the grail and, investigating the origins and significance of various contenders, assesses them with convincing dispassion. He approaches the material as historian, scientist, and detective by turns, and is able to reach crisp, clearheaded conclusions while calling up as many questions as he answers. A reader who finds the Holy Grail intriguing but whose knowledge of it comes primarily from Monty Python and Indiana Jones films will find this an exemplary place to start an exploration of the vast, mysterious world of grail lore. An unscholarly disappointment

I've never studied much about the Holy Grail, though the occult is a long-standing interest of mine. I thought that this book might be a good place to start an exploration. It looked short and sweet, and the editorial review here was favorable. Boy, was I wrong! The facts that Griffin cites don't substantiate his conclusions, and he doesn't even attribute them. The book (or at least the first few chapters of it, I stopped reading midway in disgust) is full of lofty references to the breadth of research required for a study of the Grail. If Griffin did research, I didn't find any evidence of that. (Footnotes, man! Footnotes are your friends!) And also, even though my understanding of the history and legend surrounding the Grail is extremely limited, he didn't tell me anything that I didn't already know. Very disappointing.

Interesting but non-essential

I confess I'm obsessed with the Grail, the Knights Templar, Mary Magdalene, the Tarot. Blame that doggone DaVinci Code. This quest-no pun intended-led me to Griffin's book.
The good news is it's short and it does have some interesting historical asides (Jesus' blood would have been preserved by Joseph of Armimathea in the Grail because it was the Jewish burial tradition to bury spilt blood with the deceased.) The bad news is the book badly needs an editor. Information is repeated over and over, sometimes within paragraphs of each other. Griffin, while clearly passionate about his subject, is also clearly not a career writer-the cover says he's a network specialist. He's capable but his prose lacks a certain polish and elegance. He also has a slight Christian bias, occasionally not separating historical fact from mythology. For example, Griffin states that Joseph of Armimathea established the first Christian church at Glastonbury and carried with him 2 cruets of Christ's blood. I believe Joseph's founding of Glastonbury and in fact his presence in the British Isles is legend-supported by incidental historical details but nonetheless not fact. However Griffin presents it this way and uses this legend as a jumping off point for a whole line of reasoning. That and few other instances made me question the information and conclusions provided.
This book is a good supplement or jumping off point but should not be considered the alpha and omega of your own quest for the Grail legend. Good luck, fellows knights!

Sanskrit, a creative energy for manifesting weight loss

After chanting the 10 mantras on this CD for only three days while out walking, I heard my friends say, "You look so radiant." That's how I felt--both energized and full of good health and hope. Having seen for myself what Sanskrit creates when 1,000 names of a diety are chanted during a puja, I understand the power of Sanskrit to create what is being asked: a slim waist, faultless limbs, beauty and elegance, eradication of my sorrow , abundance, and empowerment through the named aspects of the Divine Feminine. Namadeva has put together an imaginatively stunning stack of mantras. I look forward to achieving the effects I desire as I continue with the program over time. Om and prem, Namadeva.

This CD will work!

I am just like most people a wife, mother and teacher. I know a lot of thought and love went into the making of this CD. When I was first was introduced to mantra's, I was not so sure about if they would work. I trusted the person that brought them into my life so I thought that I would at least try them. I have learned and tried many different ways of healing and I found that I resonate with mantra. I finally looked into them and tried them and needless to say, I am so grateful that I did. I have found that they have made a huge difference not only in my life but the ones of those I have done them for. I higly recommend the book Healing Mantra by Thomas Ashley-Farrand if you are just getting into mantra's or have been doing them for a while. I found this book to be most helpful to me in understanding how to say the mantra's, how to use them, where mantra came from and some of their purpose. GREAT BOOK!

This is a brand new CD, I am going to get it and use it for myself and others. I have no doubt that it will help heal the deep seated reasons behind overeating or being large.

Enrich Your Life with Mantra

In 2005 I was searching for some tools to assist me with prosperity issues and was guided by a friend to purchase Namadeva's book "Healing Mantras". After reading that book there was no turning back. I have since gone on to become certified in mantra instruction through Sanatana Dharma Satsang.
While I have not practiced the Discipline for Overeating, I can definitely attest to the success that can be achieved through the daily practice of Sanskrit mantra. Daily practice of mantra will lead you to the most blessed places, places you would have never imagined going. I am so grateful to Namadeva for bringing this tool into my life.
Namadeva is extremely knowledgeable in the use of mantra as a healing tool for any situation. His teachings on mantra are accessible to anyone, no matter what spiritual path they may walk. His work is steeped in the history and stories of India and Hinduism, yet he speaks with a contemporary voice, addressing issues of the day.
For the past seven years I have been studying the work of Namadeva and daily chanting the mantras he has taught me and my life has only gotten better. I HIGHLY recommend obtaining any of his material.

Well worth the price of admission

Wow. Okay this was good. Sometimes great. Unexpected even.

When I read the synopsis about this one I had some doubts. It contains a few elements that I personally am not a big fan of reading about. Adultery being the greatest. Of course who is a fan of that one? I also wasn't sure from the wording of the description that the "husband" wouldn't be involved in the sexual relationship between the two women. Rest assured he is not. The husband is a butt head and there is never any doubt that he is anything other than an butt head.

I was able to move past the adultery though because the angsty and compelling relationship between Caton and Amelia drew me in and simply wouldn't let go. The character's in this novel are incredibly flawed and that also assists in making them incredibly real. We've all heard the phrase "a moth to the flame" and nothing could describe Caton's draw towards Amelia better. Its like she simply couldn't help herself. There wasn't a single moment where she was capable of offering even token resistance. She never stood a chance despite the fact that she always knew what the consequences of this relationship would have on her life. I felt like I was holding my breath during this journey with Caton as she fell deeper and deeper into Amelia's spell.

There was also never any doubt in my mind about the seductiveness of the beautiful and exotic Amelia. I think it is imperative that when an author creates a character such as this that the reader must also fall for her charms. And fall I did. I felt and understood Caton's desire and anguish and surrender.

Initially we mostly see the world from Caton's eyes as her life begins to intertwine with that of Amelia's. I loved how this was done because we as readers feel as if we are standing on uneven footing in how to regard Amelia. She is cruel and exquisite. Eventually the world begins to shift and we see other points of view which brings about much needed clarity.

I knew I was in for the long haul at the first 1/3 of this book. By the end though I loved it. The ending was great imho. I can't say more without saying too much.

If I were to have a complaint its that I wish there were more dialogue in the novel. Sometimes I felt like the point the author was making that the characters communicated in anything but words. I understood that and it was well done, but I do wish they had talked more. When Caton and Amelia did speak I relished those words that passed between them. Maybe that is the point?

Finally...this novel describes itself as an erotic romance. It is definitely that. The physical scenes between our leads were plentiful, well done and varied. I never grew tired of this aspect of their relationship. The story though is really what makes this erotic novel special and more than just a flash in the pan. This one is memorable.

Fantastic Story

This was a really good story. The magnetism between the two main characters was wonderfully addictive. Every page I read made me crave more. I found the story not only well written but some what poetic as well. It was a blissful mixture of sexual tension, romance and eroticism. It's rare that I find a book that makes me wish it never had an ending because I could go on reading it forever. This was that type of book for me. Thumbs up to Riley LaShea. This is the first book I've read of hers. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Wow.... this book is one the best lesbian fics I had the pleasure to read. It is well worth the price, sex is HOT, not distasteful. The plot and characters are well developed. This is a page turner, I'm not going to give any of the story away but both main characters are flawed. Read this book you won't be disappointed, I promise.
